Halfiranian was born in Tehran in 1979, after the Shah had fled the country and his successor had yet to arrive.
Within a year, his family had left Iran. Halfiranian spent the next seven years living in the Arab gulf states.
After that, it was to England, where he would be learned to speak proper.
